ABUJA — Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), says the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is a party of termites and looters.
Tinubu made the remark during the inauguration of the Tinubu-Shettima women’s presidential campaign team at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
In attendance were at least 1,250 women members of the APC from across the country, including President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
Addressing the attendees, Tinubu said the PDP should not be allowed to return to power. He described himself as the new hope for the country.
“They are a political party of termites. 16 years of nothingness, rudderlessness, digging the hole of indebtedness. Never again shall they come back. They are looters. Go out there and tell them, a new hope is here,” he said.
This is not the first time the former Lagos governor is making such remarks about the main opposition party. He had in June described the PDP as the agents of poverty in the country.
Tinubu who said this during his acceptance speech as the presidential flag bearer of the APC at Eagles Square, Abuja noted that the PDP was responsible for all the violence and poverty ravaging Nigeria.
