Youths have been charged to always speak their mother tongue as a way of preserving the language from extinction.
The acting National Chairman Laka Cultural Association Mr. Shu’aibu Leman made the plea during the 2020 National Retreat organized by the association held at Lelewal Motel, Jimeta with the theme “Laka Nation; Pathway to development”.
He said Laka people, especially youths should continue to promote their real cultural heritage by speaking their mother tongue anywhere they find themselves.
In a remark, the chairman of the Laka Cultural Association Adamawa state chapter Mr. Ayuba Umar Daniel said the aim of the retreat is to provide solutions and a way forward for development.
He called on Laka people to be united by identifying themselves.
The guest speaker Mr. Emmanuel Philip who spoke on the topic “The Laka imperatives of unity” said, “the crucial importance of unity in any system can never be over-emphasized, where there is no unity, there is bound of frustrations and inaction”.
