The First City Monument Bank MD, Mr. Adam Nuhu, who is enmeshed in a paternity scandal has proceeded on a leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation conducted by the bank’s Board of Directors on the allegations against him.
This development was contained in a press statement released by the bank.
The bank affirmed that a review of what transpires is currently ongoing and that wanton actions that violent it’s codes of conduct will not be condoned.
The statement reads: “We are aware of several stories circulating across several media platforms about our bank’s Managing Director Adam Nuru, a former employee Mrs. Moyo Thomas and her deceased husband, Mr. Tunde Thomas.
“While this is a personal matter, the tragedy of the death of Mr. Tunde Thomas and the allegations of unethical conduct require the bank’s board to conduct a review of what transpired, any violations of our code of ethics and the adequacy of this code of ethics. This is already underway.
“During the period of the review, the Managing Director has volunteered to proceed on leave. This will guarantee the sanctity of the review process.
“We enjoin all our stakeholders to bear with us as we conduct this review and to please respect the various families involved.”
Allegations
Last Friday, a certain Bolanle Cole in a series of tweets had accused the MD of engaging in an extramarital affair with an ex-staff of the bank, Moyo Thomas who was as at that time married to late Tunde Thomas.
The tweeter user also alleged that the affair which eventually triggered the death of the deceased produced two kids.
The 45-year-old died after he discovered that the two children from his marriage was fathered by his wife’s (Moyo Thomas) former boss.
According to Twitter user, Moyo had travelled to the US on vacation when she made the disturbing revelation. Afterward, she tried filing for asylum in the US on the ground of marital violence against her husband.
“Tunde Thomas (alias Tunde Gentle), 45, died about two weeks ago from heartbreak. The two kids from his marriage were indeed fathered by a man without scruples or conscience, the current MD of FCMB, Adam Nuru who was his wife’s boss (MD) in FCMB. Tunde’s wife, Moyo Thomas.
“At the height of the shameful relationship and when the older child was about eight (8) years old, the lady suddenly resigned from FCMB and travelled to the US with the two children, ostensibly on holiday. It was when the school session started in Nigeria and the children were not returned that Tunde started asking questions and the lady finally summoned the shameless courage to tell him the children were not his own.
“She then went to the extent of filing for asylum in the US on the ground of marital violence in Nigeria, against a man known to all men by his gentle and easy-going disposition. Her aim was to get the Green Card and to also get Tunde to be barred from entering the US, so she would not have to confront him to look him in the eye and tell him to his face the evil that she had done to him,” She tweet.
Also, the tweeter user alleged that Tunde suffered and recovered from a stroke after receiving the news but wasn’t able to get a grip on himself.
Nigerians React
The story caused an outrage on the micro-blogging sites with many utterly displeased. A cross-section of Nigerians condemned the extra-marital affairs between the duo and called for the dismissal of the managing director.
Minority insisted that they were two adults and had the right to befriend each other and as such, the dismissal of the MD is unwarranted.
However, not less than 2,800 petitioners signed a petition calling for the dismissal of the MD over the marriage scandal as at Wednesday morning.
In the petition, it was claimed that the deceased suffered depression and a cardiac arrest before death.
