Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufa’i of Kaduna State restated that Governors of the Northern states would protect the lives and properties of everyone living in their areas of jurisdiction no matter where he comes from.
The Governor disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in the Government House Yola shortly after condoling with Governor Umaru Fintiri over the recent death of some prominent sons and daughters of Adamawa.
He called on their colleagues especially in the Southwest to do the same in that regard for peace to reign in the country.
“The Northern states governors have resolved to study and implement modern methods of livestock breeding by providing support and subsidy to livestock producers as done by the federal government to farmers.
“Livestock sub sectors have not received any direct support from the government for modern livestock production; we Northern state Governors in our last meeting have agreed to establish one ranch in each state.
“The Federal government should give the Governors the financial support to enable them implement the ranching programme because states are dealing with multiple challenges especially the costs related to COVID-19 pandemic”, El-Rufa’i said.
On the recent security developments in the country, Governor El-Rufa’i urged people not to ethnicize or politicize crimes as there are good and bad people in every tribe but stressed that as leaders they will deal with miscreants who take the laws into their hands.
He refuted some online publications on him joining those seeking the presidency ticket for the 2023 general elections, describing the publications as fake and baseless, and called on the people to be cautious on what they read online.
