KADUNA — The Kaduna State Director of Public Schools in the Ministry of Education, Habibu Idris Alhassan says the government has inaugurated members of the Committee on Almajiri and Sangaya Reformation towards total integration into the mainstream education system.
Alhassan while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after inaugurating the committee said the committee would ensure that all school-age children have access to free and compulsory basic and post-basic education across the state.
“The committee will develop a framework for the Sangaya system of education to see how they can be brought into the mainstream education system.”
“The state government believed it would be better to bring the children into the mainstream education system, looking at the dangers they go through on a daily basis in the streets.” He said
Alhassan said the almajiri children like any other children have the right to quality education.
In his remark, Chairman of the Committee, Professor Sani Sambo, assured the state government of their readiness to discharge their duty to the best of their abilities.
