LAGOS — The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has inaugurated a Water Quality Consultancy Laboratory to ensure that residents consume quality and germ-free water.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr. Muminu Badmus, Director-General, LWC, on Wednesday in Lagos.
Badmus stated that the laboratory would render water analysis services to the residents to ascertain that they consume quality and safe water.
“This conforms with World Health Organisation’s (WHO) standards.
“The consultancy laboratory analysis services include physio-chemical analysis, which is a test of the physical and chemical profile of water sample; microbiological analysis, which is a test of the microbiological quality of water sample.
“Others include full or comprehensive analysis, which tests the physical, chemical, and microbiological profile of water sample.
“Chemical demand test, which determines the water treatment chemicals and the quantity required to make the water sample potable; and treatment chemicals analysis, which determines the potency of water treatment chemicals, among others,” he said.
He added that under the project, water consumers were expected to bring their water samples to the corporation for analysis on payment of a token.
The director-general, however, said that the project would complement the activities of LWC Water Quality Monitoring Sensitisation and Awareness Campaign.
“This is to monitor water quality at customers’ taps to ensure residents are served with potable and germ-free water supply,” he added.
