Nigeria is the second most attacked and terrorised country in the world with Iraq and Syria being the first and third respectively.

This is according to a report by Jihad Analytics, a global and international terrorism research/analysis group which speciallizes in collating data on terrorist’s activities worldwide.

The report covering January to June 2022 revealed that Nigeria recorded 305 terrorist attacks while Iraq, the first on the list, recorded 337 attacks, and Syria which came third witnessed 142 attacks.

There have been a series of terrorist attacks in the north-west, north-central and south-west regions of the country in the last few months.

These include the Kaduna-Abuja train attack on 28 March; the Owo church attack on 5 June; Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre attack on 5 July.

The terrorist group also attacked troops of the Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army at Dutse Alhaji/Bwari road in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on 24 July; and a military checkpoint around Zuma Rock, the border between FCT and Niger State, on 28 July.
