Babangida Aliyu says the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is the healthiest among the contenders for the presidential seat.
The former governor of Niger State made the remark in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during the declaration of support for Abubakar by 20 volunteer groups in the southwest.
He was taking a swipe at Bola Tinubu, the presidential flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tinubu had, last Sunday, posted a short video of himself riding a spinning bike on his social media pages to dismiss the claims about his health challenges.
Tinubu captioned the seven seconds fitness video: “Many have said I have died; others claim I have withdrawn from the presidential campaign. Well…Nope. This is the reality: I am strong, I am healthy and I am ready to serve Nigerians from day one.”
Reacting to the video, Aliyu said a medically fit presidential candidate needed not to bother about proving his good health to people.
He maintained that the presidential candidate of the PDP remains the healthiest among the presidential candidates in the 2023 general elections.
He said, “I was looking through newspapers today and I saw a picture of somebody trying to prove he is healthy.
“If there is health, we don’t need to tell people that we are healthy, but we are aware that Atiku is the healthiest of the presidential candidates in this country.”
