The political face-off generated tension in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday leading to the emergence of two parallel speakers.
Thirteen members-elect who held their inaugural sitting at the complex of the State House of Assembly along Lafia Shendam Road elected Daniel Ogazi as speaker.
At a separate sitting by 11 other members-elect held at the State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, the members re–elected Speaker of the Sixth Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi.
The oath of office was administered to him by the acting clerk of the House, Mr. Ibrahim Musa.
After his inauguration, Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule and his deputy, Emmanuel Akanbe received Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi at the Government House in Lafia.
Meanwhile, security agencies have barricaded the entrance to the main gate to the Assembly complex.
