The Speaker of the 8th Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ugwu Callistus Uche on Tuesday announced 8 principal officers at the Hallowed Chamber; 4 members each from Labour Party (LP) and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).

While the Majority Leader, Johnson Samuel Anih is of the Labour Party, the Minority Leader, Iloabuchi Aniagu is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Others are Jude Chukwudi Udefuna (LP) Deputy Majority Leader; Deputy Minority Leader- Jane Chinwendu Eneh (PDP).

The Chief Whip is Eze Ejike Jude (LP); Minority Whip- Chukwuma Ekwueme (PDP); Deputy Chief Whip- Princess Obiajulu Ugwu (LP) and Deputy Minority Whip- Okechukwu Mbah (PDP).

The Speaker also set up a 10-man ad hoc committee for the selection of Standing Committees of the House; the committee chairman is the Deputy Speaker- Ezenta Ezeani.

Other members of the committee are Harrison Ogara, Clifford Obe, Iloabuchi Aniagu, Princess Obiajulu Ugwu, Ani Johnson, Anthony Nwankwo, Okechukwu Aneke, Magnus Edeh and Osita Ezeh.

The Speaker then charged the Committee, “Do the needful and report to the House in 2 weeks.”

Meanwhile, the House in pursuant to section 196 subsection 1 and 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended has approved by resolution the appointment of 50 Special Advisers, SAs, to the Governor of Enugu State.

The Enugu State Governor in a letter signed by Prof Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the State Governor requests the appointments of SAs to assist him in the performance of his functions.

The Special Advisers’ remuneration and allowances will be as provided in category 3A of the harmonized salary and allowance table for top public office holders in the state.
