Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has appointed former Super Eagles captain Kanu Nwankwo as the chairman of Enyimba International Football Club, Aba.
Nwankwo’s appointment was announced on Tuesday by Kazie Uko, the chief press secretary to the Governor.
Nwankwo’s appointment is coming after the People’s Elephant won the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, title.
He takes over from Felix Anyansi-Agwu, who has headed the team for 24 years, winning nine league trophies.
Uko also said that Nigeria’s former U-20 and U-17 coach, John Sam Obuh, was also appointed as the chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club.
Other appointees and their positions are as stated below:
- Ven (Dr) Joshua Onyeike – General Manager, Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC).
- Pastor Dike Nwankwo – Director General, Abia State Orientation Agency.
- Dr Uloaku Ukaegbu – Director, Abia State Agency for Control of AIDS.
- Mr Ogbonnia Okereke – General Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA).
- Ezichi Kalu (Rtd.) – General Manager, Abia State Road Traffic and Safety Management Agency (ARTSMA)
- Mr Boniface Alozie Uche – Chairman, Abia Comets.
- Dr Benson Nwaigburu – General Manager, Abia State Debt Management Office.
