…Demands justice for Mohbad
Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly called Jandor, the gubernatorial candidate of Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections has berated the state government’s lackadaisical approach towards lives of the people it serves.
A press statement on Wednesday signed by Gbenga Ogunleye, Head, Media and Communications of Jandor, stated that Adebola Akin-Bright, a 13-year-old boy was discovered to have some part of his small intestine missing while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Lagos, before being taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
“Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu during his visit to the boy on Sunday 3rd September 2023 promised to take up the expenses for his medical care.
“Unfortunately, over two weeks after the said promise, the fund needed for the overseas treatment recommended to save the life of the boy was yet to be released by the state government. Sadly Adebola was announced dead yesterday evening,” the statement read.
The statement added, “The Lagos State House of Assembly had earlier yesterday called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to direct the Ministry of Health to release funds for the overseas treatment of the boy but the intervention was rather too late.
Dr. Adediran stated that the painful avoidable death of Akin-Bright is as a result of negligence on the part of public office holders who should prioritize human life above other sentiments. “This is one death, too many. Everyone who had a hand in the delay to release funds for his overseas treatment should feel really bad for the avoidable death of Adebola” he said.
While commiserating with the parents of Adebola Akin-Bright on the untimely death of their son, Jandor urged the state government to thoroughly investigate all sequence of happenings leading to the late Adebola’s missing intestines from the first private hospital and subsequently at the General hospital where he breath his last.
Also in another development, Jandor called for a thorough investigation into the death of Afrobeats musician, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as MohBad.
According to him, Mohbad’s death announced on Tuesday 12th September 2023 is shrouded in secrecy and foul play with widespread allegations of complicity of some key players in the music industry.
Jandor described the unfortunate incident and the attendant public outcry on attempts to cover up the matter as a huge drawback to the entertainment industry in the country.
He advocated that the law enforcement agencies need to unravel the truth and ensure no case of injustice is allowed by carrying out thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Politician lamented the untimely death of such a budding talent and the anxiety among music fans on the perceived dangers and shady undercutting going on in the entertainment industry. “This is a big blow to the image of our music industry,” he said.
He however, commiserated with the family and fans of late Mohbad and wished them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
