The United States Diplomatic Mission in Nigeria said in a social media post on Thursday that it condemns the recent attacks across Plateau communities that left nearly 200 persons dead, scores injured and hundreds displaced.

“Those responsible for these heinous attacks must be held accountable,” the US authorities urged the Nigerian government while expressing “heartfelt condolences for the tragic loss of life.”

The French Government, on Tuesday, denounced the wanton attacks “which resulted in a large number of casualties.”

According to a statement on its website, France assured the Nigerian government of its “full support” in fishing out the assailants and prosecute them.

The United Nations, UN, high commissioner for human rights, Volker Turk, said he was ‘deeply alarmed’ by the well-coordinated multiple attacks that went on for hours without intervention by the security agencies.

“I call on the Nigerian authorities to investigate this incident promptly, thoroughly and independently, consistent with international human rights law, and to hold those responsible to account in fair trials,” Turk said in a statement on Thursday.

The President of Hungary, Katalin Novák sent her ‘thoughts and prayers’ to the families of the victims, calling for an end to the years-long massacre in northern Nigeria and the persecution of Christians.

“This massacre must end. Persecuted Christians must receive help,” President Novák’s Wednesday post on X read.
