Two trucks loaded with cows suspected to be rustled by miscreants from Tsafe Local Government Area of Sokoto state have been intercepted by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Zamfara State Command.
Sani Mustapha, NSCDC state Commandant while briefing newsmen in Gusau said the Corps intercepted two trucks loaded with cows numbering 24 and 1 sheep on their way from Tsafe local government area to Gusau.
The Commandant explained that, the suspects had planned to smuggle the cows to Gusau at night but decided to off load the cows at Damba Area, a suburb of Gusau.
Mr Mustapha added that on sighting the officers the suspects took to their heels and the Cows have been handed over to the Ministry of Security and Home affairs for onward return to the original owners. .
He warned criminal elements in the state to desist from any act of criminality in the state to relocate or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
Recall that the Zamafara state government had banned the sale of cows in some local government areas including Tsafe.
