Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has directed the immediate implementation of a new National Minimum wage of N70, 000 to all employees of state and local government with effect from August, 2024.
The approval for the commencement of the payment followed meeting held between the Governor and leaders of the Organized Labour in the state.
Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, Adamawa State NLC Chairman who announced the Governor’s approval, said state workers would start enjoying the new wage from August, 2024 while implementation at the local government level will commence in September, 2024.
“State government workers will start receiving their salaries with the new minimum wage from this month of August while workers at the local government level will start benefiting from September.
“The template to be used is the consequential adjustment table that was used in 2019, pending the release of the table from the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission.
“Governor Umaru Fintiri has approved the implementation, because he doesn’t want Adamawa workers to be waiting for table from national salaries, wages and income commission before implementation,” Fashe said.
