The federal government has inaugurated a Liquefied Compressed Natural Gas (LCNG) hub in the northeastern part of Nigeria.

Ekperikpe Ekpo, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, while commissioning the project, explained that the facility in Yola marks a significant turning point of hope and opportunity, not only for Adamawa State but for the entire northeast region.

He described the feat as a testament to the potential of public-private collaboration in advancing the Federal government’s ‘Decade of Gas’ agenda and expressed appreciation to Greenville LNG for their visionary leadership and bold commitment to expanding access to clean, affordable, and sustainable energy solutions.
According to Ekpo, the LCNG showed that the country was setting a new benchmark for energy accessibility and sustainability.

“The strategic location of this facility in the Northeast also carries deep significance. For far too long, this region has faced infrastructural challenges that have limited its full economic potential. This facility in Yola marks a significant turning point. It is a beacon of hope and opportunity, not only for Adamawa State but for the entire region. It demonstrates that the benefits of Nigeria’s vast natural gas resources can and must reach every corner of our country,” he said.

The minister explained that the facility in Yola, the Adamawa state capital, marks a significant turning point, describing it as a beacon of hope and opportunity, not only for Adamawa State but for the entire region.
Ekpo explained that President Bola Tinubu is placing priority on harnessing Nigeria’s gas resources for economic transformation, industrialization, and social development, noting that the LCNG model was a perfect example of such innovation.

He said: “This transformative project highlights the federal government’s unrelenting efforts to drive economic growth through gas adoption, building on the immense promise of natural gas as a cornerstone for national energy security. By leveraging advanced technology and innovative models like this LCNG facility, we are setting a new benchmark for energy accessibility and sustainability. This LCNG facility is not only delivering energy but also delivering hope, creating jobs, enabling businesses, and fostering peace through inclusive development.”

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by his deputy, Kaletapwa Farauta, appreciated the federal government for facilitating the investment, saying it aligned with the vision of the state government for cleaner and affordable energy sources.

“The establishment of this L-CNG Refueling Station is not just a business venture – it is a strategic partnership with the people of Adamawa State, one that promises to unlock opportunities, create jobs, and position the state as a hub for clean and affordable energy,” he said.

Fintiri said the project aligns with his administration’s agenda of sustainable development and reiterates the state government’s support “to drive, improve the ease of doing business, boost transportation and logistics, and enhance industrial productivity through access to reliable and cost-effective energy sources”.

The Governor described the project as better, cheaper, safer, and more efficient energy utilization, adding that the Adamawa State Government is ready to collaborate with the Federal Government and reputable investors to move the country and state forward.
