Wife of the president and National Chairperson of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Senator (Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu has donated N500 million to the Adamawa State Government to supporting no fewer than 1,800 households affected by the recent devastating flood across the state.

The event took place on Tuesday 5th August, 2025 at the ‎Adamawa State Government Banquet hall Yola.

Delivering the first lady heartfelt message, she said: “I am here to extend our deepest condolences to His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and to stand in solidarity with the people of Adamawa State, who have loss loved ones, homes, and livelihoods due to the recent devastating floods. We pray that Almighty Allah grants them strength, healing, and comfort in this difficult time.”

She emphasized that the ₦500 million cash donation, alongside food and non-food items, was provided to help cushion the effects of the disaster and support ongoing recovery efforts for the flood victims.

‎Receiving the donation, the Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kelatapwa George Farauta, who represented Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, expressed deep appreciation.

‎‎”On behalf of the Governor and the good people of Adamawa State, we welcome you. We are grateful for this kind gesture. Your timely intervention has brought relief to many families who are now returning to their homes and rebuilding their lives. The government is still working on broader relief and reconstruction measures.”

‎”We thank the President, the First Lady, the Vice President, and his wife for identifying with us in our time of need. We assure you that all donated items will be distributed transparently and judiciously,” she added.

‎‎In her welcome address, the First Lady of Adamawa State, Her Excellency Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, RHI State Coordinator, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Neido Geoffrey Kofulto, appreciated the continued support of the Office of the First Lady of Nigeria, especially towards women empowerment initiatives.

‎‎Also speaking at the event, Dr. Ubom Udoh, representing the Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), said the programme focused on restoring hope and uplifting the lives of ordinary Nigerians, reaffirming the commitment to building a more resilient nation.
