…Says He Was Part Of Them But Repented Now
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has vowed to stop those he described as vagabonds from hijacking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the Oyo State governor, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, Sam Anyanwu and their factional members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remain expelled from the party.
He made this known during the opening of the New Oyo State PDP Secretariat at Molete, Ibadan on Tuesday.
The Secretariat was named after the Party State Chairman that led the party to victory in 2019, Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha.
Makinde said he knows that many members and leaders of the party are concerned about the current state of the party but said, “If liars continue to lie for twenty years, the day the truth comes out, that’s the end of the lies.
” I have absolute trust in the Judiciary. I know the Judiciary will do the needful. So, all these Court cases will come together at some point and the Judiciary being the last hope of the common man will give justice to PDP”.
Makinde described those causing problems in PDP as ‘ vagabonds’ who he said grew up in 2015 and had their time for ten years, a decade but said they had been expelled in November 2025.
He said whatever those people are doing now should be traced back to their origin.
Citing a Yoruba adage, the Oyo governor labelled Wike and his cohorts as the PDP’s vagabonds who grew up in 2015 but waited for 10 years before attempting to create carnage within the party, prompting their expulsion by the party’s leadership.
“In Yorubaland, we always say that if you see a house, or a compound that is peaceful, the vagabond in that house hasn’t grown up.
“The vagabonds in PDP grew up in 2015, they had their time, and for 10 years, a decade, they practised their vagabond act in the PDP.
“But they’ve been expelled in November 2025. So, no more vagabonds in PDP.” Makinde said.
While attributing the rise of Wike and his cohorts to the PDP defeat at the 2015 Presidential election, Makinde admitted once being part of the Wike faction.
He, however, affirmed that he’s no longer part of the faction while vowing to resist the alleged plot by the faction to hold down the PDP for another party to be in power.
“Whatever it is that they’re doing, you should be able to trace it back to their origin. In 2015, PDP lost power at the federal level. There was a gap in the leadership. Otherwise, those vagabonds will never have been able to take hold of PDP.
“And let me confess, I came into government in 2019 and towards 2023, I was yoked with them. But now, I’ve repented. I’m now born again. But for them to hold PDP for another party to be in power, it’s a no-no.” He said.
Makinde expressed confidence in the judiciary’s ability to deliver justice in favour of the Tanimu Turaki-led faction.
While reacting to Wike’s declaration of interest in the affairs of Oyo PDP, Makinde talked down the former Rivers Governor’s declaration.
Recall that Wike had at the 105th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held by the Abdulrahman Mohammed- faction of the party on Monday night declared interest in Oyo as part of efforts towards ensuring the chapter’s survival and success.
Makinde, in reaction, questioned the contribution Wike made to the PDP in Rivers which would have rendered him capable of interfering in Oyo’s affairs.
He labelled the faction NEC meeting as a nocturnal gathering of children in rags, adding that the day will soon break on them.
“Finally, someone said he’s interested in Oyo PDP and at national level, asked him what he has done for the PDP in Rivers State where he came from.
“They’re wearing rags and dancing around at midnight. The day will soon break for them.”
