In an effort to restore peace in Plateau State, following wanton killings in parts of the state, the Federal Government will make provision of 5000 surveillance cameras to be installed across the state to improve intelligence gathering.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu disclosed on Thursday in Jos, while commiserating with the government and people of Plateau State over the killings in part of Jos North Local Government Area, which occurred last Sunday.
 According to Tinubu, the visit was not only for sympathy but to strengthen peace efforts, calling on leaders in the state to close ranks in the interest of peaceful coexistence,  emphasizing that strong leadership and inclusiveness remain key to national unity.
Earlier, Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who introduced the victims of recent attacks, highlighted his administration’s efforts to restore stability.
The governor appreciated the President’s interventions, including support for infrastructure and leadership inclusion, and reaffirmed his commitment to returning Plateau to its peaceful and hospitable status.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs and Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba expressed delight with the President’s visit to the State, particularly to console the State at its trying moment, stressing that they were really comforted.
The Royal Father appealed to President Tinubu to give stakeholders and traditional rulers an opportunity to meet in Abuja to further deliberate on the way forward, which the President obliged.
The president’s visit afforded him the opportunity to meet face-to-face with relatives of victims of the attack, political bigwigs, stakeholders, and religious leaders, and to discuss issues aimed at restoring lasting peace in the state.
They reiterated the request that stakeholders and traditional rulers meet with the presidency to discuss lasting solutions to the lingering crisis that has bedeviled the state for decades.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, after the condolence visit, has since left for Lagos, where he will spend the Easter holiday.
