The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed reports that there is court order restraining it from conducting its congresses nationwide congresses, as the party had continue with the exercise.
The Chairman of the ADC Congress Committee for Adamawa state, General Ishaya Bauka (Rtd), while addressing Journalists said that the Congresses is ongoing in accordance with the party’s national timetable, which commenced on April 7 and is expected to culminate in a national convention on April 14.
On a court order suspending the congresses in Adamawa, the committee chairman dismissed the claims as unfounded, stating that the committee had not received any official communication directing it to halt the exercise, assured party members and the public that the congresses would proceed as scheduled.
“The ongoing congress as the foundation of the broader electoral process, the results from the exercise are expected to be collated by Friday, ahead of the state congress scheduled for April 11,” Bauka said.
He explained that the congresses, covering polling units, wards, and local government levels, are being conducted simultaneously across the country.
Bauka noted that the ADC distinguishes itself from other political parties by maintaining active structures at the polling unit level, where positions are filled through a democratic process.
