…PDP kicks, asks INEC to consider NURTW or logistic companies
Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has requested the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the Lagos State Parks Management Committee (LSPMC) to distribute electoral materials and transport election officials on election days.
AIT News reports that MC Oluomo’s request is contained in a letter dated 12 January 2023 and received by INEC on 16 January.
MC Oluomo, the general manager of the LSPMC, said his request was to avoid technical, logistics, and deployment challenges that could affect elections in the Lagos state and other states such as Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Osun.
However, given that MC Oluomo is a loyalist of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged INEC to disregard the demand.
In a statement by Phrank Shaibu, the special assistant on public communication to Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate, PDP said the MC Oluomo-led committee cannot be trusted with sensitive electoral materials.
Shaibu suggested to INEC reach out to the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) or engage the services of any logistic company for the purpose of distributing electoral materials in Lagos.
