The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested Governor Fintir’s Chief Security Detail, Duty Officer, current Chairman of Guyuk local government council, and former Chairman of Madagali local government council who are Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Their arrest followed the brutalization of some INEC officials deployed to Adamawa State to supervise the rerun governorship election held on 15 April 2023 and the humiliation of the Deputy Director Department of State Services (DSS) in Adamawa by some mob Green City Hotel in Yola.

Sources confirmed that the Secret Police also arrested some miscreants over their alleged role in the heinous attacks.

Attempt to contact the DSS office in Yola for comment, proved futile as inquiries were referred to the headquarters in Abuja.

The development followed the controversial declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Adamawa State, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, as governor-elect by the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari.

In a video that went viral on social media, one of the National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor A A Zuru was being stripped naked.

Also, in a video shared across social media platforms, Senior Security personnel are seen being interrogated by some unidentified persons, a development seen as an embarrassment to the security outfit organization.

Recall that last Wednesday, the state PDP chairman, Barrister Tahir Shehu, led a protest at the DSS office in Yola to demand the release of the three detainees.

Shehu said: “We came in this number to register our peaceful protest and demand the immediate and unconditional release of our party faithful who have been unduly detained for days without being taken to court and we have delivered our official letter to the Director DSS, Adamawa State requesting him to allow those in detention access to their lawyers and their families because it is unconstitutional for you to detain somebody for more than 24 hours without taking him to court and without giving him access to his family”.

In another development, a High Court sitting in Yola, presided by Justice Christopher Dominic Mapeo on Thursday, ordered the DSS to unconditionally release the three PDP members.

The judge adjourned the hearing of the motion on notice until the 3rd of May, 2023.
