Nigerian Bottling Company, NBC, makers of Coca-Cola or Coke, and Schweppes, among others, has increased the prices of its products in the North Central region of the country.
Chris Christodaulakis, the sales director of NBC, disclosed, via a statement, that the new prices will take effect from August 26, 2023.
According to the statement seen by The West African Pilot News, the price of a crate of bottled 35cl of Coke, Fanta, Sprite and Schweppes was increased by 21 per cent: from N1,400 (wholesale price) to N1,700 (wholesale price).
A crate of 33cl can of Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta and Sprite currently selling for N4,400 will now be sold at N5,000 – a 13 per cent rise.
The Sales Director explained that the price adjustment was a result of “the current economic reality and operational costs driven by currency devaluation and raw material price increases.”
Though the memo applies to only the North Central States of Benue, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi and Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory, it is expected that the wind of price adjustment will blow over to other regions in the coming weeks.
