Dr. Nelson Omenugha, the Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment Programmes to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, condoled the victims of the fire outbreak in the popular Afor Nnobi market on Wednesday. Omenugha who was on the ground at the market to assess the extent of damage done by the fire to traders, thanked Nnobi youths and other individuals who moved to extinguish the fire quickly. He then assured victims of the fire incident of his modest support within his ability.
Commenting briefly during his on-the-spot visit to the market, Dr. Nelson Omenugha said that the government of Anambra State under Governor Chukwuma Soludo is working very hard to put all structures in place so that the state can contain any emergency of this nature. “The Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, is committed to the safety and security of citizens and residents of the state. Relevant institutions are being powered to work towards a state where emergencies like this are fully contained with minimalist casualties,” he said.
The cause of the fire outbreak at Afor Nnobi market is yet to be ascertained. Dr. Omenugha on hearing the news of the incident rushed down to Nnobi to assess the situation firsthand. During his visit, he also advised traders to be conscious of their electrical devices and sockets as part of ways to avert possible fire outbreaks.
