Newly elected 21 local government council chairmen in Adamawa have been warned to avoid absenteeism in office, as the present administration will not condone such habit for a chairman to abandon his official duties for no reason.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State on Monday gave the warning while swearing-in the newly elected 21 local government chairmen held at the Mahmud Ribadu Square Yola.

Fintiri charged them to eschew corruption in the discharge their duties and embraced everyone along in their administration.

He saluted Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission ADSIEC for conducting the election that was widely acknowledged as the best and credible in the history of Adamawa and thanked the people of Adamawa for overwhelmingly voted People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidates.

The oath of office and allegiance were administered on the chairmen by the State Chief Judge, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman has constituted members of Local Government Election Petition Tribunal and Appeal Panel to entertain cases arising from last Saturday’s council polls in the state.

In a statement by Director Information, Special Duties and Protocol, Adamawa State Judiciary, Sunday Kadiri said the constitution of the tribunal and the panel is in compliance with section 53 and 58 of the Adamawa State Electoral Law 2002.

The statement added that persons or parties wishing to file petitions can do so before the Secretary of the Tribunal at the New High Court Complex Yola within fourteen days from the 13th July, 2024.

Members of the election tribunal are Daniel John as Chairman, Sa’adatu Umar Babayi, Ahijo Idris Ateeq as members while Lawan Musa and Zainab Buba are to serve as Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
