After death rumours last week, the 91-year-old President Paul Biya of Cameroon on Monday arrived at Yaounde’s international airport, the Cameroonian capital.
The appeared on state broadcaster CRTV after the presidential plane landed, shaking hands with officials next to his wife Chantal, as a jubilant crowd waited to greet him.
Following the disappearance of Biya from public view a few weeks ago, after attending the China-Africa summit in Beijing at the beginning of September, concerns were raised over his health and whereabouts following his disappearance from public view.
One of the billboards with a portrait of Biya on a blue background reads: “Welcome home, Mr President of the Republic”.
