All the 25 chairmanship positions in the recent local government elections in Niger State have been won by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
 Similarly, APC won 271 of the 274 councillorship seats, whereas the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) obtained three, including two in Tafa and one in Rafi local government areas.
The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) Commissioner for Operations, Mohammed Liman, who announced the results, stated that the election was conducted in all 25 local government areas in accordance with electoral laws and the commission’s operational protocols.
Liman said: “All returning officers have finished the collation and announcement of results as per the law.
“Following a thorough evaluation, the commission has endorsed and confirmed the results as declared.”
He said certificates of return would be issued shortly to the elected chairpersons and councillors, with relevant parties properly notified of the timetable.
Over ten political parties, including the PDP, Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and African Democratic Congress (ADC), fielded candidates in the local government elections in the state, which took place on Saturday, November 1.
