NewsNigeriaPoliticsOsun Suspends Official Transactions With National Youth Council of Nigeria

Due to a leadership crisis and ongoing controversy within the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Osun State chapter, the State Government has announced the suspension of all further dealings with the National Youth body.

The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, announced this in a statement, saying the state government would suspend all official interactions with the NYCN at the state level pending the outcome of the investigation.
“The government expressed concern over what it described as deepening leadership feuds and controversies relating to the management of allocated resources within the state NYCN.
“As a result, the government has ordered a formal review of its previous engagements with the council and constituted a three-man investigative committee made up of unaffiliated nominees.
“The committee has been mandated to investigate the issues surrounding the leadership crisis and report its findings to the government,” the statement said.
Alimi, assured residents that “the government remains committed to restoring normalcy, transparency, and accountability within the youth sector through the processes already put in place.”
He said the Osun State Government’s action was in line with the federal position, given that the state chapter is now facing similar internal challenges.
According to the statement, the federal government had directed the withdrawal of the NYCN’s certificate of registration by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), leading to the suspension of dealings with the national leadership.
“The Ministry cited persistent infighting, factionalization, and confrontations as reasons for the decision,” the statement added.
