The remains of the former Governor of the defunct Gongola state, and former National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who died on Saturday at the age of 90, were laid to rest in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, after the body was flown in from Abuja on Saturday evening.

The funeral prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Jumma’at Mosque, Yola town, Khadi Ahmadu Bobboi, at the palace of the Lamido Adamawa, Doctor Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha

Among those who attended the funeral prayer were Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, prominent political office holders, and traditional rulers from Adamawa State and beyond, alongside other dignitaries who gathered to pay their final respects to the late elder statesman.

Speaking after the funeral prayer, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state says death is inevitable, stressing that every living soul will one day taste death.

The Governor described the death of the elder statesman as a great loss to Adamawa State and Nigeria, saying Alhaji Bamanga Tukur contributed immensely to the political development of the state and had a strong vision for its progress.

He said the death of Tafida Adamawa, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has created a significant gap, stressing that those coming behind must rise to the occasion and work towards filling the vacuum created by his departure.

Governor Fintiri urged the younger generation of leaders to sustain the dreams and aspirations of the late elder statesman by continuing to work for the unity, development, and progress of Adamawa State.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus, while extending his condolences to the family, friends, and people of Adamawa State.

Alhaji Bamanga Tukur died at the age of 91, and he is survived by 2 wives, 18 children, including Alhaji Auwal Tukur, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, and grandchildren.

Alhaji Auwal Tukur, who responded on behalf of the family, thanked all those who stood by them during the trying moment.
