Enugu State House of Assembly has confirmed the re-appointment of Emeka Odo as Chairman Enugu State Board of Internal Revenue Service.
During his screening on Thursday, Odo revealed some of his achievements as Chairman of the Board for the last four years.
“During my first tenure, I automated revenue collection system in the State in order to block revenue leakages”, Odo said.
He further stated that the automation of the revenue collection system has massively boosted the State’s internally generated revenue (IGR).
In 2019, Enugu State generated more than thirty-one billion naira only as against fourteen billion naira generated in 2016 when I assumed office, he said.
Odo also pointed out that cash payment of revenue has been outlawed in the State and the Board currently working on a bill that will specify agencies that will be saddled with the responsibility of revenue collection in the State.
Speaking thereafter, the Speaker of the House, Edward Ubosi, congratulated Odo on his re-appointment, charging him to address issues of multiple taxation in the State.
Ubosi added that the seventh Assembly will not hesitate to promulgate laws that will streamline tax collection in the State so as to encourage potential investors.
