The police on Thursday in Abuja arraigned a 35-year-old tenant, Godspower Obaka, in a Dutse Grade I Area Court over an alleged threat to kill his landlord.
Obaka, who resides in Sabon-Gari, Bwari, is charged with Joint act, criminal trespass, criminal force, assault and intimidation.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Tunde Arowolo, told the court that the matter was reported by Ezekiel Love of the same address, on Aug. 10 at the Bwari Police Station.
Arowolo said that the complainant sent an electrician to the defendant’s apartment to disconnect his power source because he owed a light bill for two months and refused to pay.
The prosecution said that the defendant, alongside the defendant’s relation, Blessing, presently at large, allegedly trespassed into the complainant’s house and slapped him.
He said that the defendant also allegedly threatened to kill the complainant before leaving his house.
Arowolo said that the defendant had earlier, during police investigation, confessed to committing the crime.
He noted that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 19, 342, 263,265 and 397of the Penal Code.
The Presiding Officer, Mr Hassan Aliyu, admitted the suspect bail in the sum of N100, 000 with a surety, who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and must also submit a printed copy of his or her BVN from the bank.
The Judge adjourned the case until Aug.27 for hearing.
