Deeper Life School Masked Up Doctor to Conduct Test on My Son, Mother of Molested Pupil Alleges

Deborah Okezie, a mother who alleged that her son was sexually molested by fellow students in Deeper life High School, Akwa Ibom says the school management sneaked in a doctor to the hospital where her son, Don Davis was admitted to conducting tests on him.

Pointing out that the school has been keen on covering up the incident, she slammed the management for claiming to have reached out to her son as a show of love.

Mrs Okezie…”A representative of the school went on air to claim that I am not the mother of Don Davis. The representative also said Don Davis came to the school with full-blown Aids and that I brought a carton full of drugs to give the principal. Is that how to reach out?”

The management of Deeper Life High School had in a recent video vowed to ensure neutrality and transparency while investigations are ongoing, noting that it would continue to show “love” to the victim within the limits permitted by his parents.

On the contrary, Mrs. Okezie claimed that the statement was false. She stated that the school had been less concerned about the welfare of her son.

“The secretary to Depeer life high school said that she has reached out to Don Davis and will continue to reach out to Don Davis if we permit. But this is not true. Your doctor sneaked into the hospital where my son was admitted and conducted the tests on him. Is that what you call reaching out? And the test he omitted, I’ll point it out at the court of law,” she said.

She also accused the school of trying to paint a false narrative of the incident to the public at the expense of her son’s reputation.

“A representative of the school went on air to claim that I am not the mother of Don Davis. The representative also said Don Davis came to the school with full-blown Aids and that I brought a carton full of drugs to give the principal. Is that how to reach out? No one reached out to my son,” she added.

On December 19, it may be recalled, Mrs. Okezie alleged that her son, Don Davis, a JSS 1 student in Uyo Campus was starved and molested by some students while in school. She stated that the accused students habitually inserted their fingers and toes in his anus, on a Facebook post.

According to her, Don Davis was moved by the school principal from the junior students’ dormitory to a dormitory filled with senior students because he was bed-wetting.

She also said that the senior students threatened to kill Don Davis if he reported the matter to the school principal.

“I had a dream, I saw my son waving me goodbye. I told my husband I have to go to school, that this dream is not right, he said let’s pray. I said to him prayers are not enough, I have to go to the school and see what is happening.

“Look at a child I sent to school, he came back with a broken anus.

“People who have children in boarding school don’t know what these children go through, a boarding school of these days is not like the boarding school of those days.

“They will remove his boxer and push their legs and hands into his anus.

“They said if he complained he will be a dead man. Please, help me share this video until it gets to the appropriate authorities,” she said.

Intervention

Following her outcry, Solomon Ndidi, the college principal was suspended by the school management, and an investigation into the incident commenced.

The management at that point, disclosed the development in a statement:

“We want to assure the general public that investigations into the case have commenced and no culprit, whether staff or student, will be spared if found culpable. As an interim measure and to underscore the seriousness we attach to higher superintending values, the school principal has been suspended summarily even as further investigations continue.”

Also, the state governor, Udom Emmanuel expressed concern over Mrs. Okezie’s claims and thereafter directed the Commissioner for Education, Nse Udo Essien, to facilitate an immediate investigation into the incident.

According to the Commissioner for Information of the state, Ini Ememobong, confirmed latest developments in the case and stated, “The State Government is committed to the protection of children wherever they may be within its jurisdiction.”

Mother of victim under pressure

Meanwhile, Mrs. Okezie in a social media post expressed utter distrust in the investigation carried out by the Ministry of Education in the state. “I appreciate the governor for setting up an investigation team, but I disagree with the investigation going on right now,” she posted.

She further accused the commissioner of wanton intimidation and attack over her Facebook posts. Narrating her ordeal with the commissioner, she stated that she and her husband, alongside Don Davis, her son were invited to the Ministry only to be intimidated and attacked over her posts.

Mrs. Okezie also said she was ordered to take down the videos.
