The First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has appointed an acting managing director while Adam Nuru, the managing director proceeds on leave following allegations of marital infidelity between the MD and Moyo Thomas, a former employee of the bank.

In a recent tweet, FCMB said Yemisi Edun has been appointed as the interim managing director.

Edun holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, and a master’s degree in international accounting and finance from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

She is also a chartered financial analyst; a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN); an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN); a member of Information Systems Audit and Control (ISCA) USA; and a certified information systems auditor.

In a notice sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, the Bank said it will conduct a review of what has transpired, adding that Nuru volunteered to proceed on leave which “guarantees the sanctity of the review process.”

“In line with normal corporate practice, Yemisi Edun is acting as the managing director of FCMB in the interim period while Adam Nuru is on leave. She has not been appointed as the substantive managing director,” the tweet read.

WAP reported how a certain Bolanle Cole had levelled allegations of the unprofessional romantic affair against Mr. Nuru.

This newspaper reported how over 2800 people signed a petition asking the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to sack Mr. Nuru.

The petition alleged that the bank MD was responsible for the demise of a staffer, Tunde Thomas.
