KADUNA – An Information and Communication Technology (ICT) firm, Ihifix Technologies, says digital skills will ensure transparency and accountability in service delivery.

Ihifix Team Lead in Kaduna State, Mr. Emmanuel Adikpe, stated this on the sideline of the ongoing six-week training of public servants on digital skills in Kaduna.

Adikpe told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that entrenching ICT in governance would significantly strengthen transparency and accountability and restore public trust.

According to him, the digital revolution was not only a revolution of the economy but that of governance and service delivery.

“Digitisation of the whole governance process is the way to go to achieve speed, efficiency, and accountability.

“When things are automated, they become transparent and accountability becomes easy. This is what Nigerian citizens have been yearning for.

“Therefore, entrenching ICT and e-governance will not only increase government’s transparency, but will also foster public trust and citizens’ participations,” he said.

He said that ICT enable every sector to be successful and efficient by ensuring speed, skills, and scope.

He commended Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State for his data-driven approach to development, which according to him, would not be possible without ICT.

The team lead urged the state government to invest more in building the needed ICT capacity of public servants.

Adikpe said that the six-week basic and advanced digital skill training, being facilitated by Ihifix, was funded by USAID for the staff of Kaduna State Residents Registration Agency.

He said that the training was designed to improve the public servant’s digital skills for workplace productivity.

“We have been talking about e-governance, but it cannot be achieved without digitally skilled civil servants and in the workforce of the state.

“The training was tailored to be 100 per cent practical so they could learn by doing. So far, we are in the fourth week of the training.

“There are people that have been hungry for such training and were able to grab it with both hands. We have seen people moving from novice to intermediate level, while others moved beyond expectations,” he said.
