The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, conferred on the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osibanjo an award of Grand Defender of Faith at the opening ceremony of her two-day 16th Biennial Conference in Enugu.

Speaking at the occasion, the newly elected National President of PFN, Bishop Wale Oke, said that the award was in recognition of his dedication to the service of humanity and the nation.

Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi being conferred with the Defender of the Faith award.

Bishop Oke described the Vice President as, “a scholar and lawyer of the first-class order, a Senior Advocate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, an outstanding Pastor of the Pentecostal Church, a politician of the new order and a man that enjoys uncommon grace and divine favour.”

In his response, the Vice President congratulated Bishop Oke for his emergence as the new National President of PFN.

He also expressed gratitude to PFN for the prestigious award given to him saying, “there can be no more coveted preferment than that conferred by one’s brethren”,

Osibanjo then prayed for the nation saying, “this nation is the apple of God’s eyes and this journey will end in praise to the glory of His name, Amen”.

Other dignitaries that received awards at the conference include the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who was conferred with the Defender of the Faith award.

Commending Gov. Ugwuanyi for his uncommon leadership qualities, the cleric expressed delight at the governor’s simplicity, his generosity to PFN and other churches in the state, as well as his disposition as a peaceful and God-fearing leader.

Ugwuanyi’s stand in the faith he also said can be seen on inscriptions on billboards all over the state that Enugu State is in the hands of God.

In his speech, the governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, praised PFN Enugu State chapter urging them to continue to pray for the peace, security and progress of Enugu State and Nigeria in general.

“The PFN, Enugu State chapter has been outstanding in her prayerful support and wise counsel to our administration. It has indeed evolved as a major partner in our endeavor to make life more meaningful for the good people of Enugu State. I extend the gratitude of the government and good people of Enugu State for this show of love and unwavering support,” Ugwuanyi said.
