With a plan to convert the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Yola to a Teaching Hospital, the Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) has awarded contracts in preparation for the upgrade of the hospital.
Some of the projects currently under construction include; water, power supply with large solar panels, road networks and administrative building.

said the board and management of PEF deem it right after awarding the contracts for the upgrade of the hospital to come from time to time to inspect the level of progress made so far.

who made the remark during the inspection tour of ongoing projects in the hospital by members of the governing board and management of PEF said the board and management are extremely happy with the performance of the Chief Medical Director of the centre, Prof Awwal Mohammed.
He noted that it was the major driving force behind his organization’s quest to ensure the hospital’s upgrade to a teaching hospital.
“The medical director has been indefatigably making the hospital a center of excellence.
“The performance of the CMD’s feat in separating Siamese twins really gladdens our hearts and that is why we are pushing for the upgrade of the hospital. It is a confirmation of what we are telling the people,” he said.
Bobbo expressed satisfaction with the progress of work done, noted that some of the projects have reached an advanced stage of completion while some are due for commissioning.
Responding, the CMD, Professor Awwal Mohammed thanked the board and management of PEF for the magnificent projects they are instituting in the hospital, noting that such will enhance the delivery of the hospital and its march towards becoming a teaching hospital.
“The hospital has been doing well in the area of training and derives its patients from Taraba, Borno, Gombe States and even from Cameroon republic.
“The green light Modibbo Adama University got to start medicine, FMC is seriously marching to become a teaching hospital”, he said.
The CMD who expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being executed, but the pace of work is slow, however, expressed optimism that some of the projects will be commissioned before the end of the year.
