BAUCHI — The Police Command in Bauchi State has screened 4,496 candidates for employment as constables, over nine days.

The command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakil, announced this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, in Bauchi.

He said that the exercise was hitch-free and conducted under the supervision of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Federal Character Commission.

He said that the exercise started on Feb, 1 and ended on Feb. 9, at the Police Training School (PTS), Yelwa, Bauchi.

According to him, 7,140 applicants were expected, while 4,496 applicants from the 20 local government areas of the state were screened and uploaded.

“The exercise adheres strictly to the guidelines as stipulated in Police Act and Regulation CAP. 359 Part V Para. 72 and 73(1990).

“The candidates must have an O’ Level certificate with at least five credits with passes in Mathematics and English Language in not more than two sittings in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB.

“The candidates must not be less than 18 years of age or more than 25 years of age,” he said.

He said that the screening also adhered strictly to good character and an applicant must not be convicted of any criminal offense.
