Turkish police have arrested a suspected member of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Turkey’s southern province of Sanliurfa ahead of a planned suicide bomb attack.
Police took the suspect, known as Beshar El Mizhen, codenamed ‘Ebi Enes El Kahtani’ by the terrorist group, into custody on Monday after finding a large volume of digital material linked to ISIS.
The suspect is believed to have been planning a suicide attack, Turkey’s Interior Ministry alleged.
With the capture of El Kahtani, who is suspected of joining ISIS in 2014 and receiving training in combat and other areas, the tenth suicide bombing planned by the militant group in Turkey this year has been prevented, the ministry noted.
