As opposition against Soludo, APGA mounts in Anambra
Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo has denied allegations that he is running an oppressive government in the state, even as opposition against the governor and his All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) mounts.
Christian Aburime, the press secretary to the governor, who spoke on behalf of Soludo noted that the allegation was carried in a video clip saying that the governor said he would not work with members of the state legislature who emerged on the platforms of other political parties
He also noted that the video also featured him (the governor) as saying he would oppress state legislators who did not emerge from APGA, and ‘ensure that they only go home with their salaries and nothing more.
The video clip alleged that the governor said he would not grant the requests of legislators from other parties and would not give them any audience .
According to the governor, the video clip was an old one which has been doctored in favour of opposition elements in the state, and stressed that the videos were meant to blackmail him, pointing out that he is a democrat who works with the legislature.
The governor also used the opportunity to debunk an allegation in another video clip where a former commissioner led some youths chanting songs against APGA.
He said, “That video is heavily ‘doctored’ by members of the opposition party, just to spite the governor.
“Everyone knows that the governor is a democrat. He is ready to work with any member of the state legislature even if they are elected from other political parties, so that is not true,”
“Members of the opposition have gone to high lengths to cause disaffection between Governor Soludo and the people of Anambra State.
“Anambra is an APGA State, and the people are happy with the performance of the governor so far, and they are ready to vote for APGA candidates in the forthcoming election,” he said.
