Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, has commiserated with the Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion) over the demise of Archbishop Maxwell Anikwenwa.

The governor also condoled with the  Anikwenwa family over the death of the former Archbishop and  Dean of the Awka Diocese (Anglican Communion).

Bishop Anthony Poggo, Secretary General of the Church of Nigeria, (Anglican Communion) confirmed the death of former Archbishop Anikwenwa on Monday.

A press statement on Tuesday by the Press Secretary to  governor Soludo,   Christian Aburime, reads, “Governor Soludo has on behalf of the government and good people of Anambra State, conveys his deep condolences to the Anikwenwa family and Archbishop Province of the Niger, and Bishop Anglican Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim, over the unfortunate loss,” said

Governor Soludo  noted that the late Archbishop Anikwenwa was a man who devoted his life to the service of God and humanity adding that he lived an exemplary life worthy of commendation.

Governor Soludo also described the late Archbishop as a man held in high esteem for his meritorious service in the vineyard of God, saying the deceased left rich legacies behind in Anambra State for posterity as a foremost prelate.

The Governor prayed to God to grant the soul of the former Archbishop rest in his bosom and comfort the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion the family of the deceased.

Anikwenwa, the former Archbishop of Province II and the Bishop Emeritus of Awka Diocese, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) reportedly died at the age of 83.
