NewsNigeriaPoliticsBayo Onanuga of Tinubu’s campaign council warn Igbos to steer clear of Lagos politics

Bayo Onanuga, director of media of the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says Igbo are aliens in Lagos state and should be excluded from the politics of the state.

Onanuga made the comment on Saturday night as his contribution to the ethnic controversies that marred Saturday’s governorship and house of assembly election in Lagos.

Yesterday’s election in Lagos witnessed an unprecedented level of violence and voter intimidation spurred by ethnic sentiments.

Earlier, less than 48 hours before the election, a notorious APC loyalist in the state, Musiliu Akinsaya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, had warned Igbo residents in Lagos who will not vote for APC candidates to not bother about coming out to vote.

In a tweet that appears to support the violence and intimidation recorded during the Lagos gubernatorial polls, Onanuga said, “I hope the Obidients and their LP have now realized that Lagos is not ‘no man’s land’. The state has indigenous owners and today they emphatically made the statement loud and clear.”

This was followed by a follow-up tweet that reads, “Let 2023 be the last time of Igbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, or any Nigerian state. It is not a ‘no man’s land’, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business.”
