On Tuesday, Prof. Mohammed Mele, Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Adamawa State Governorship election declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP as Adamawa state Governor-elect.
Mele announced the result in Yola after a supplementary election conducted on 15th April 2023 said Fintiri of PDP polled 430, 821 votes to defeat Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani of APC who scored 396,788 votes and other contestants.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the 18th March governorship election in the state inconclusive as the margin of lead between the candidates was less than the number of canceled votes.
Adamawa State has a total number of 2,196,566 registered voters, and a total of 876,387 voters were accredited for the election.
Meanwhile, Governor Fintiri in his acceptance speech said “I want to rededicate this victory to the cause of uplifting the standard of LIVING and making LIFE more meaningful for our people. At all times, it is the people first.
“At this point, I want to commend the institutional capacity of INEC in this election. The technological innovation introduced in the conduct of the election and the untiring commitment of the management and staff of the Commission, have added tremendous value to the credibility of this election.”
