Adamawa State House of Assembly has constituted a five man ad hoc committee to investigate alleged illegal mining activities in Anguwan Kara of Lamorde ward of Mubi South local government area.

The setting of the committee followed a motion under matters of urgent public importance raised on the floor of house by member representing Mubi South constituency Mr. Yohanna Sahabo Jauro.
 Hon. Jauro explained that activities of the miners contribute to environmental pollution and destruction of houses and called for emergency intervention from relevant authorities.
Some members who spoke on the matter said the house should mandate relevant authorities to look into the activities of the miners in order to assist the ad hoc committee in their assignment.
The speaker, Rt. Hon Wesley said the committee will be headed by member representing Numan constituency Mr. Pwamakeino Mackondo, while members representing Toungo, Fufore/Gurin, Mubi South and Michika constituencies would serve as members.
The committee has one week to submit its report.In another development, a bill for a law to amend the Adamawa State Penal Code law number 10, 2018 to provide for stiffer punishment for Shila group has passed first reading on the floor of the Adamawa State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
Members of Shila group who are mainly youths armed themselves with dangerous weapons and snatched cellphones from residents in the state capital and other major towns in the state and their activities have become a concern to inhabitants.
Sponsor of the bill, member representing Yola North constituency Suleiman Umar Alkali said the bill if passed into law will eliminate all forms of mischief carried out by members of the group, and will provide maximum support to security agencies across Adamawa state.
The Speaker of the house Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, who presided over the session, put the motion into voice vote and unanimously supported by the lawmakers present during the sitting.
He then directed the clerk of the house to schedule the bill for second reading during any legislative day.
