NewsNigeriaPoliticsGroup appeals to FG to caution Dokubo over utterances against Ndigbo

…Calls for investigate/prosecution over his possession of AK 47

A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Global Initiatives for Good Governance (GIGG), has urged the Federal Government and well-meaning Nigerians to caution Mr. Asari Dokubo against fanning embers of hatred and crisis in the country.

According to the group the recent aspersion cast against the Igbo race by Dokubo could escalate the crisis between the Ndigbo and some sections of the country, adding that his accusation of oil theft levelled against the military must also be investigated.

The group also called on the Federal Government to investigate and prosecute Dokubo for being in possession of AK47.

Dr. Emeka Kalu, the Director- General, GIGG, in a statement made available to journalists, warned Dokubo to steer clear of Ndigbo and mind his business.

The group insisted that nobody has the monopoly of violence, and regretting that Dokubo has soured the long standing cordial relationship between the Igbo and their Niger Delta brothers with his recent utterance against the region.

“In the history of mankind, the people of the Southeastern region were known to be violent-free, people with a good heart for others and always ready to defend the course of the unlawfully maltreated.

“From the time of Abraham and Methuselah, Igbos had been industriously motivated people and they never got enticed with what doesn’t belong to them,” the statement read.

He added, “Asari Dokubo without caution, descended on Igbos for no just cause, not minding how dangerous his actions are to Nigerians and the new government of Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

“The just constituted government of Bola Tinubu is busy galvanising plans towards transforming and redeeming the polity from the shackles of ills encountered in the past administrations, while Asari Dokubo on the other side of the page, calls for violence and uprisings by unjustifiably accusing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of masterminding the EndSARs upheavals.”

The NGO further accused Dokubo of attempting to put the Igbo and the Federal Government at a dagger’s draw in order to pave ways for his selfish tendencies.

Kalu, however, insisted that the Igbo would not be pushed to war with the Federal Government, but warned Dokubo to change his tactics.

The group also challenged Dokubo to prove to the world that the military was responsible for 99 per cent oil theft in Nigeria as claimed.

GIGG called on the security agencies to investigate Dokubo and possibly prosecute him for being in possession of illegal firearms.

“The Federal government under the watch of President Bola Tinubu is hereby called to arrest and investigate Asari Dokubo to explain how he got possession of AK 47 that is not a gun permitted by law for an individual to buy and license.

“He must be a criminal to have openly brandished a sophisticated rifle against the Amnesty agreement reached during the late Musa Yar’Adua administration,” Kalu said.
