EducationNewsNigeriaUTME result forgery: Mmesoma loses N3m scholarship from Innoson Vehicles

Innoson Vehicles has withdrawn the N3 million scholarship awarded to Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma by its founder, Innocent Chukwuma after a panel revealed that she admitted to manipulating her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, result.

The panel, set up by the Anambra State Government, submitted its report on Friday.

Chukwuma had awarded Mmesoma the scholarship after a news announcing her as the top scorer in this year’s UTME went viral.

Cornel Osigwe, Innoson’s head of corporate communications and affairs, said in a statement on Friday that the company made the “difficult decision” to withdraw the scholarship “in response to the confirmed findings” that “Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme did manipulate her UTME results.”

“This action is a testament to our unyielding commitment to honesty, integrity, and merit-based recognition,” Osigwe stressed.

The company said that though the development is regrettable, it “remains steadfast in its mission to support deserving students, invest in the future of our education sector” and to foster educational excellence in Nigeria.
