The governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has congratulated Professor Wole Soyinka, the eminent literary icon and Nobel laureate, on his 89th birthday.
Bello appreciated God for blessing the Nobel laureate with good health and long life.
He noted that Soyinka’s literary prowess has earned him global recognition and played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s cultural and intellectual landscape.
A press statement signed on Thursday by Onogwu Muhammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, read, “Through his works, he sheds light on crucial societal issues, provoking thought and inspiring positive change.’
Bello maintained that beyond his writing talent, Soyinka demonstrates unwavering commitment to governance and nation building.
“His courageous stance on social justice, human rights, and the rule of law leaves an indelible impact on our collective consciousness.
“As a Nobel laureate, Soyinka embodies Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and fosters international understanding and cooperation. “His advocacy for justice, freedom, and equality serves as an inspiration to all,” Bello said.
Governor Bello noted with keen interest, Soyinka’s ongoing role in guiding the nation toward a brighter future. “
While praying for the elder statesman, he said, “On behalf of the government and the people of Kogi State, I wish Professor Wole Soyinka a happy 89th birthday filled with good health, joy, and continued success.”
