The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed has advised serving corps members to acquire vocational skills through the scheme’s skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development, SAED, programme.
The DG made the admonition in his address to corps members at the Katsina State orientation camp as well as the Borno State orientation camp on Sunday.
He said the SAED in-camp training for corps members was designed to expose them to entrepreneurship during their three weeks orientation periods, while the post-camp training period would help them to fully perfect their skills towards self-employment.

General Ahmed stressed that the only antidote to unemployment is skill acquisition, as he advised the corps members to, “learn from SAED, take advantage of SAED and develop your potentials through it to be financially independent and become employers of labour.”
He also urged them to participate actively in all camp activities and use the four cardinal programmes of the scheme, namely: orientation course, primary assignment, community development service and winding-up/passing-out to create friendships and avenues to impact their host communities.
Warning the corps members against violating the NYSC dress code, the DG said, “The era of wrong dressing is gone. You must always dress well, don’t dress anyhow because every wrong dressing attracts sanctions and if you are wrongly dressed you would not be allowed to enter our offices.”
