Nigeria’s senior national women’s football team, Super Falcons, has been ranked the 32nd national women’s team in the world and first in Africa in the latest FIFA women’s ranking.
The ranking was released on Friday – five days after the FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup ended.
Super Falcons previously ranked 40th in the rankings released in June before the World Cup but in the latest ranking, the team moved eight places, gaining 94.14 points to move from 1554.94 to 1649.08 points.
The Blue and Yellows, the Swedish national women’s football team, which earned a third-place finish at the World Cup, sit atop the FIFA Women’s World Ranking for the first time with newly crowned Women’s World Cup Champions La Roja of Spain securing the second spot.
Similarly, the national teams of the U.S., England, and France took the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively in the latest rankings.
