The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has solicited the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to establish an e-library and entrepreneurship training centres in higher education institutions across the state.
The governor, who made the plea in Abuja on Friday during a visit to the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, noted that the establishment of the centres would serve as a training spot for youths to become self-employed.”
Governor Kefas while commending TETFund for its massive intervention projects across tertiary education in the country also solicited for the establishment of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in the state.
“I am here to also ask for computer-based test centres to be able to accommodate more of our students in writing JAM Band, and lastly, to ask for an e-library in Taraba”.
“In my agenda, the priority is education, and if you look at our region educationally, there is a major problem. We have huge human resources that are untapped, and I have discovered that one of the biggest reasons for insecurity is a lack of education,” he said.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Sonny Echono, commended the governor for the efforts aimed at uplifting education in the state.
Mr Echono emphasized that TETFund has continued to deliver various intervention projects in both federal and state tertiary institutions in Taraba and promised to look into the governor’s requests.
“The Taraba State College of Education, Zing, (that the provost is here), I want to commend him because he is up to date in accessing what has been made available to him, and he also made some request which is being favourably considered,” he said.
