The federal government has declared October 2 a public holiday in commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary on October 1.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the minister of interior, announced this via a statement on Thursday.

The Minister congratulated Nigerians on the celebration and assured citizens of the Bola Tinubu-led government’s commitment to tackling the multifaceted challenges bedevilling the nation.

He said the current administration, through the “Renewed Hope Agenda”, would ensure a better Nigeria for all citizens “as a befitting tribute to our heroes past.”
